CEOs' challenges and priorities have evolved
For the last 19 years Price Waterhouse Cooper’s Annual CEO survey has explored the top priorities and concerns of thousands of business leaders around the world.
The 2016 research shows that todays’ CEOs face an economic environment that’s becoming increasingly complicated to read and adapt to. However, the speed of change and new technology innovations present global CEOs with a great opportunity to get closer to consumers and create further value.
In this post we are going to examine 7 key aspects of the PwC’s 10th Annual Global CEO Survey with particular regard to technology and innovation.
As society and business landscape continue to evolve, shifts in managerial thinking are evident. In PwCs’ 10th Annual Global CEO Survey (2006), one of the top priorities was to emphasise collaborative opportunities to achieve global competitiveness.
As globalisation still plays a significative role in CEO agendas, PwC’s 19th Annual Global CEO Survey shows a shift to a “multi-polar” vision. In 2016, CEOs predict a world made of;
- multiple economic models
- increasing regionalisation in trade
- increasing divergent systems of laws
- differing fundamental belief systems
In parallel to this, the changing expectation of consumers and stakeholders present CEOs with a great opportunity to evolve the relationships. Transforming through technology is seen as significant aspect of these relationships in PwC’s 19th Annual Global CEO Survey.
Here are this year’s main findings;
1 - Less confidence in global economic and business growth for the coming years

2 - Customers and clients have the highest impact on organisations’ strategies

3 - Customers want to transact with organisations that address wider stakeholders needs

4 - Responding to stakeholders expectations is more and more difficult due to multiple barriers

5 - Technology is the primary area CEOs look into to respond to stakeholders expectations

6 - Data and Analytics have the highest impact on stakeholders engagement

7 - A generation of leaders with an entrepreneurial, who can harness technology and drive innovation is being cultivated
